A Kaiser with special touches (pic) and a small mystery
Here is one of my favorite Brooklins, BRK 29 Kaiser Manhattan 4 door, parked beside another version that I just received from Ken Doerr through the Legacy Auctions. It has the 1953 Dragon options and they are well done.
These Dragon options included padded roof, gold plated hood and trunk emblems, and this one also includes the much less common gold adonized wire wheels.
FYI- The Kaiser Dragons (about 1,200 of them) were priced about the same as the Cadillac Coup deVille. The engine remained that same old 6 cylinder that all Kaisers had.
Of course I had to open it up, and the interior also received some nice touches.
My public thanks to Ken for making this one available, and also for fast mailing and superior packaging.
Now - Does anyone have an idea who might have made these modifications?
David H. I believe Ken's Dad made the changes.
Nicely detailed model of a very handsome car. Too bad they didn't have a more modern, overhead
valve V8 to go with it. I do recall that they advertised a "pop out windshield" as a
safety feature. Can you imagine passing thru that w/s opening in an accident, &
coming down softly on the padded roof?
The wire wheels really make it look great.
I have considered such a conversion based on the newer 1954 Kaiser, but I haven't found one cheap enough yet. I guess I should also look for a 55 Chrysler to supply those wheels also. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Both are wonderful, David and that Dragon is especially nice.
Ummm, and all I can do is rule myself out as being the person having done those superb Dragon modifications to the '53 Kaiser !
Ditto for mine, except mine has a tan interior.
And A Fine Dragon She Is...Dillon!!
