Can't speak directly to your question but my model inventory shows a  white metal 1958 Oldsmobile 2 door hardtop by TFC,  (Toys for Collectors) with a German origin.  Could there be a connection?

That master was used by several companies, including MOC.

Hi, Folks. I think there may actually have been quite a few different masters used for '58 Oldsmobiles:

1. Toys for Collectors had a somewhat crude 2dr ht distinguished by a one-piece taillight and bumper assembly. It strikes me that this was also underscale.

2. Design Studios (later Motor City USA) had a more detailed convertible that also I think was a little smaller than 1:43. They made scads of them.

3. A&S had a lovely nicely detailed 2dr ht to scale which they made in small numbers which Motor CITY USA later used to make an equally small number of models from.

4. Sergio Goldvarg's last white metal model effort was also a 2dr ht that very closely resembled the A&S/Motor City USA version but I think was from his own master.

5. Lastly was a 4dr hardtop sedan which came from Motor City USA in their "American Models" Line. It was a nicely proportioned and finished model and one of the last white metal models they issued. It struck me as being a tad under 1:43 in scale and I wondered if it had been re-worked from the convertible pattern or somehow emerged from the A&S version. I think Alexander Duncan?, Pete Kenna and SMTS may have all had a hand in the production of some of these masters. My apologies if my recollection is fuzzy as we are going back 3 decades aghoi when I was in grade school:)

Oh, yes, I think the master on auction likely is a real one used in the production of the American Models Motor City USA Oldsmobile 4 doors.

So what do you do with it if you buy it?  Just display or go into production of '57 Oldsmobiles?  Wheelbase of my TFC example (and Brooklin's 1957 4 door hardtop version) is 2.94 inches,  1:1 1958 Oldsmobile,  122.5 which equates to 2.85 inches,  so models are a fraction of an inch large but virtually unnoticeable.

So what do you do with it if you buy it?

If I had it, I would do a thorough cleaning on it and polish it to a shiny finish, and clear coat it. (you can get brass to shine like gold)

Then I would buy a model it was crafted after, and take the model apart, and put it back together using the brass master body instead of the original body, and put it on a plinth and display it with a little sign on the plinth describing the brass master.
