Here's a Mikansue kit that I built (and pictured here on the forum) several months ago:
I bought it in "used" condition, which included two missing wheels, and other problems. So I had fun bringing it back into semi-acceptable condition. But then I came to realize something was missing.
Even earlier than the Jaguar, I had purchased a mint-in-box new 1:43 VW, the "Herbie the Love Bug." Made in China for Mattel's Hot Wheels division in 2013, this was a quick favorite. Its detailing was just about as good as anything 1:43 I have ever seen, especially on the interior. But it seemed something was missing.
And then a well-padded envelope arrived in the mail, the result of a spur-of-the-moment impulse with eBay:
There were 9 of these metal figures, all classified as 1:43. I wasn't familiar with Phoenix Miniatures (England), but two of these caught my attention. Here they are, after some size reduction, re-attached arms, shaping, color, etc.
And two models appeared a little more complete to me!
The rest of the Phoenix crew will just have to wait for further inspiration, I guess.
Enjoy! David H
Well done David. The figures do add greatly to the charm of these vehicles. I have several packages of Phoenix and Omen figurines still in their packages and unpainted. It is about time that I pulled them out.
When I think about the cars that I have enjoyed over the years, it was always in the company of people. Your images always make that point. Thank you.
I really enjoy your posts and pics David, and my favorites are the pics with the figures! keep them coming my friend!
