It seems that some resin models are getting to be worth much more than others. A Kess 1971 Oldsmobile 98 4 dr htp just sold on the secondary market for $331.00. This must be a record for a Kess.
The 61 Goldvarg Impala in blue has sold for $500 and the 68 Galaxies have sold for $350. Crazy.
And the 1960 Mercury in Rose. $350 also.
Sounds like PRIME time to be selling. Those values won't last forever.
@d-crowe Yeah, I sold all of the 3 that I mentioned at those prices. Took away the pain of parting with them.
....I noted this "phenomenon" on another post/different forum a few weeks back. Recently, I sold a few dust-collecting "junk" replicas for "top dollar."  If I was smarter... I'd sell more; as it appears to be an excellent time to "unload."  🤔 🙂Â
@chris Agreed. When you see those prices it's a good time to thin the herd.
@d-crowe Is there anybody here collecting for resale value? I don't think so.
@nickies Well, sort of. With models in other scales, I have on occasion purchased two. Then, when values increased, I sold one which covered the cost of both..... thereby "netting" me a one free model.
But as you theorized, I'm not a "flipper."  I agree with you. The vast majority of collectors are not speculators. If values rise.... great! If they don't.... that's OK too.
@nickies Yes I think there are quite a few who do collect for resale but I'm not one of them.
I don't collect for resale either. But, when a good opportunity comes up.......
Today the prices are higher and higher. In my opinion, Chinese resin models don't cost so much. They have some problems with quality and can be demolished if you touch them. So, the price about 300 dollars for Kess or NEO is very strange. But I'm not suprised of 350- 400 dollars for Motor City USA. These models are incredible and very wishful.
