Another nice model. I wish I liked it more than I do, for whatever reason, it just doesn't look quite right.
John; I wonder if what you are seeing is that the windows are not quite high enough. They look a shade too short to my eye; but I do quite like this model all the same.
One difficulty is that David took his pictures from slightly below the model. They are well-done pics. But, if we are to compare with other pics, both should be taken from similar angles. This is the struggle with trying to evaluate a model from photos. There are too many variables that can impact the final image. In hand, the Safari looks great. As an example, if you try to match the angles when comparing with a 1:1, the roofline on the Brooklin looks fine.
A few years ago, a model was accused of being banana-shaped, based on an early photo. Now, some models are indeed oddly shaped. But, on this particular model, two folks who had the model in hand were saying that the model was not banana-shaped. Among those who insisted it was, a few posted photos with straight lines along the length of the model showing its inappropriate curves. Ultimately, none of the critics had the model in person. They were all relying on the single photo that showed bad proportions. As it turns out, it was the lens of the camera used to take the photo that distorted the end of the model.
Another factor is the nature of close-ups. Few of us hold a model three or four inches in front of our eyes unless we are looking at the interior. Few models hold up well under extreme magnification. To each his own as far as evaluating. For me, I like to have the model in hand before I make an evaluation. Unfortunately, by then, it is paid for and has become a part of my collection. So, we have to go by photos but it is always helpful to hear from those who have one or have actually see one in person.
Wasn't it great when we were kids buying our little cars in the dime stores and we could pick through all of them to get the one that was perfect!

Yes I sure do remember this. I used to go through a bunch of them when making my purchases of Lesney/Moko/Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi Toys as the quality of the casting and paint application did indeed vary! I recall my mother (who usually financed these purchases, bless her heart) shaking her head and laughing at how picky I was; opening box after box. Lol.
