This Packard slogan harkens back to 1901 when James Ward Packard was asked if he had any literature on his new car. The slogan remained with Packard until 1958. I always loved the looks of 30's Packards with their distinctive grill and bold lines that maybe weren't regal, but definitely presidential, You could picture FDR in the back seat with his jaunty looks and signature cigarette holder in his mouth. I'm old enough to remember these cars still on the road in the late 1940s when my mother would take me for walks on, what was then, fashionable Brooklyn Heights. I memorized the hood ornaments of the Packard swan, the Pierce archer, and the like (yeah, it was a ritzy neighborhood). I love this 1938 Packard 12 Victoria Model 1607 model, not only for its looks but the color palette of sunflower yellow with beige, wood and chrome accents.
A beautiful model of a beautiful automobile. Love the story.
@rich-sufficool I also have the yellow Packard. I think it is the oldest 1/43 scale model I have.

Wonderful models. I can see why you would want all three.
Great pics, as usual, Rich.

I have to agree with you, M'sieur Sufficool, the thirties were the best years for Packards. My first one was a 1937 and that is pretty much my favorite year for most of the cars I like. They had style, back then. Thank you for the post, it brought back fond memories.
I also have the cream version and this is the best looking one. I still consider it's a masterpiece by today standards for a model that has been issued in 2011 and won an Award for Best in 1/43 scale.
@nickies, I agree. I remember being impressed when they first came out. They're still impressive.
