After missing our time on Martha’s last year because of COVID, we finally arrived back on the Island this morning. It is good to be back. Some new cars came of course, yet the Silver Blue Yeoman always comes.
And of course, the ‘58 Yeoman

I love that blue Yeoman.
Superb! That tradition continues!!
Here's a video from 2010.

@jkuvakas I am so grateful, John, that you posted that again. You did a great job creating that video back in 2010 and it’s fun to see it again. I’ve now saved it.

@david-knight, thanks. It was actually cut in 2010. So far, it's had over 2,000 views. You're a YouTube star!

I corrected the typo. Yes, it was 2010 that you cut it. Where did the years go!

I love the tradition. Always fun to see these posts and imagine myself actually being there.
Bob, I’m glad you enjoy these posts each year. It’s fun creating them as they transport me into my 1:43rd scale world. There is plenty of space for guests as there are 7 bedrooms and 5 full baths in the 1/43rd scale house and guest house, so c’mon over to the Vineyard to stay with us! I’d take you for a ride in my ‘65 Impala Super Sport convertible today but it’s cold and windy so the top is up for today. Tomorrow looks more promising for a top down ride around the island. It’s beautiful up here in October.

I can imagine the fall foliage is magnificent right now.

So glad to be back at the Vineyard this year. It's a wonderful tradition that I am pleased that you share with us. Very nice to see the Yeoman again too.

Thanks, John, I’m happy if you enjoy this tradition. For some reason the picture I took yesterday of the Yeoman looks particularly realistic compared to past years . Perhaps it was the time of day and the lighting. In any case it compares well to this picture of a ‘58 Brookwood, one level up the food chain from the Yeoman. Brooklin wisely chose to do the Yeoman as the side trim was less complicated. The Brooklin model as you know well, John, came fitted with whitewalls so would show even closer to the Brookwood version. I believe you too have both in your collection, one with white walls and one with black tires.

Thanks, David, a tradition many of us wait for! Something about traditions that's cozy like hot cocoa on a Vineyard night, even in 1/43 I guess. And that is a great shot this year. The Yeoman looks great with its BW tires, true to its workhorse mission.

Thanks, Mark, for your comments about traditions. This year’s time on Martha’s Vineyard marks the 45th year since I built the model house in 1976. Over the years it has been added to such as the porch in 1981 and in 1991 the guest house and 3 car garage were added. The top picture below was taken probably in the summer of ‘82 as that was the year of the Audi and Mercedes parked in the yard. The picture below that is the way the main house looks now. Lots of memories of summers with that house. Our children and now grandchildren have fun with it when they are here with us. This October it’s just Jeannie and me. While the house is of my own design it is a typical Cape Cod/Island design with weathered gray shingles. A cup of hot cocoa sounds good tonight. It is cold and windy outside.
