Back to replacement mirrors
I've lost more than a few mirrors over the decades but have perfected a replacement method. I take a small piece of sheet aluminum (easily available at hardware stores) cut and file it into a small round disk or oval as needed and using a silver colored paper clip and a dab of J B Weld on the disk embed the wire into the J B Weld. Adjust the angle of the wire to suit, let dry, paint the J B in chrome, (or body color), cut the wire off at an appropriate length and insert into the hole in the fender or door. A chrome pen Molotov or other can be used to color the back side of the mirror and the front side is already semi mirror colored. These replacement items are more robust than many that came with the model. The J B Weld can be filed to shape as needed before painting. Photo shows one under construction on a piece of card stock, and a sample piece of aluminum.
