This 1953 Cunningham C-3 Cabriolet is one of 27 built for homologation so the car was eligible for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Almost all the chassis were bodied by Vignale in Turin, Italy. Powered by the 331 cid Chrysler FirePower V8 that with a new intake manifold and 4 carburetors was bumped up to 220hp. The first two cars had 3 speed Cadillac manual transmissions and the rest used the Chrysler PowerFlite semi-automatic 2 speed with electric overdrive. The cabriolet cost a whopping $8000 new and the coupe, $9000. The New York Museum of Modern Art rated the coupe "one of the 10 Best Contemporary Automobiles".
Nice ! It's a really good-looking multi-nationality sports car.
Great to see this one today matched with Harv's new Code 3 Brooklin. Excellent posts both!
