Here is the finished product (followup to previous post). I used Model Master Metalizer (brass) lacquer on the wheels and grill. Very pleased with the results.
Your detailing makes that model POP!

Ken, that would pass for the actual car. Absolutely beautiful work.

Wow! that looks great!
You have unleashed the potential that was hidden below the paint on this model. Great job.
The next WMCE 1959 Desoto Adventurer if he have one should be like this.
Ken, your results are magnificent! This one reminded me just now of one (pic) from several years ago, and I found it. Here's a Collector's Classics DeSoto that is far from the quality of yours but still kind of interesting.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Here's one that I am going to attempt.
I'm sure that it will take all summer to do this one. Lots of work.

Outstanding rework of your De Soto. Question?...
What is Model Master Metalizer? Is it a clear liquid? Did you use a brush, or an air brush? Explanation would be appreciated. What other modifications did you perform. Thanks.
Model Master Metalizer Laquer is simply a name give to the product. It comes in a 1/2 oz jar or spray can. It is intended to replicate metal and comes in various tones including brass, aluminum plate, burnt iron, stainless steel, steel, magnesium, gun metal, titanium, burnt metal, exhaust, etc. It does not have a strong pigment in it and is metallic in nature. A primer must be applied first.I applied it with a brush and no primer in this case but have air brushed it also. .The wheels on the Desoto are chrome and applying the metalizer without primer allows the chrome to show through. The modifications done on the Desoto includes scraping and polishing the front and rear window frames, the side roof chrome, scraping the strips on the trunk, scraping the side "adventurer"emblems, the hood and trunk emblems, scraping and polishing the door handles, brass washing the wheels and grill and adding white and gold paint to the interior. The factory Brooklin Desoto comes with all of the above painted black.
