I came across this picture of the Brooklin 1963 Olds convertible with a luggage rack. I have this model which I bought on the secondary market but without a luggage rack. This is the first time that I have seen this model with the luggage rack. Does anyone have this car with a luggage rack? Did all rose coloured  convertibles come from Brooklin with a luggage rack or was this  added by the owner at a later date.

I had this one but had it stolen.  It came with a rack and it was my understanding that all of the ones in this color did as well.

Sorry to hear you had the model stolen. They all had the luggage rack included when they were made for the BCC in 2006 in a run of 200.

It was produced as a top up in Black as a factory special in a run of 350 in 2011 but not as a top down convertible. Truly unique as it won't be released again.

Jack, I too am sorry you had your Olds Starfire stolen. Having a Brooklin stolen to me would be as bad as having my car stolen, especially one of my favorites! That Starfire convertible in Antique Rose Poly is a beautiful car both in full scale snd in 1:43.  I bought my Brooklin from its previous owner. It was a Texas car carefully maintained. It did not come with a rack on the trunk lid and there was no sign that one had been removed so I wonder if somehow two versions were offered.

@david-knight   I recall that the rack came uninstalled and inside the box.

For the hobbyDB listing, click here. As all Brooklin data exists here, it's a great resource for answers to questions like these, As John S. mentioned, this model was a BCC special and came with the rack in the box. I had one and remember that the rack had no mounting holes. So, if you have one without the rack, the rack is missing from the box.

@jkuvakas

You said there were no mounting holes. How was someone supposed to accurately and neatly attach the luggage rack?

By guess and by golly I suppose.  That was the reason I didn't mount mine....plus I don't recall ever seeing one done this way in 1:1 scale.

I have never seen a luggage rack on a 1:1 '63 Olds, ever. With a trunk that big I doubt that it was a factory or dealer option.

I’m glad there were no holes in the trunk lid or rack supplied in the box as I cannot imagine any cars fitted with such a rack. It certainly could not have been a factory or dealer installed accessory. Maybe something sold by J. C. Whitney?

The BCC guys could probably tell us more. But, I thought the rack was supposed to just sit on the trunk lid. No, it was not a factory option but the club models always offered something unique, like the Birdnest T-Birds, not necessarily factory but cool nonetheless.

Ed, not sure why, but a bird’s nest was a custom job that featured a rumble seat in the trunk of a ‘’57 ‘bird,
