Brooklin's new box: When I did the simple math of the cost difference between my BRK '42 Olds Woody and my '53 Ford Customline I assume that represents the approximate cost of the new box. I think this is accurate because the quality and intricacy of finish seems about the same for each model (but I invite comment on this of course). The difference is 20 pounds sterling. Mike Coupe has requested feedback on this issue. Mine is that, given the option, I would elect not to go the extra expense of this box in the future. I will also add that the extra cost will affect how many Brooklins I buy in the future. If my numbers are correct then every 6 Brooklins I buy, their boxes have cost me one Brooklin boxed the old way....hmmmm. I wonder why Brooklin didn't elect to use their excellent rigid boxes used for their 1930s Buick series, if model protection during shipping was paramount?
BTW..this is constructive feedback meant to assist...not whining!
Re the use of the earlier Buick boxes Jack
I would think that they weren't used as they wouldn't match the status of the models which the new paymaster now wants to create. These boxes are fine for an expensive Rolex or Omega or diamond encrusted necklace, where the cost of the box is a smaller proportion of the price than that of a Brooklin.
Aaahhh...I see. I must say that I recall receiving my first 30s series BRK Buick and being very impressed by the rigidity and the presentation of it's box. This is why I suggested it as a good candidate to protect the now more detailed, ornate and more fragile Brooklins. In some cases (for example the BRK Chrysler T&C) the box might be made a bit deeper or wider to accommodate more protective material to prevent crush damage; or perhaps it should be generally enlarged for all BRK models. At any rate I do agree that a better box is required; I just question this 20 pound sterling version. I want Brooklin Models to be successful as I love their models and want to afford as many as possible....herein lies my conflict.
