My friend Ron and I grew up next door to each other, and we both collected diecasts from Corgi, Dinky, Matchbox, et al. He eventually became an architect and manager of a prestigious A-E firm in Nashville. He also has a nice group of 1:1 cars, including Cadillacs and a 1950 Buick convertible. He has been working on a 1/43 replica of a 1958 vintage Cadillac showroom, based on no one particular dealer but using styles you would have seen in downtown buildings, before dealers followed customers out to suburbia. He sent me some photos to update his progress in this venture. The figures of people are sitting around a table with scaled 1958 Cadillac brochures. I think he plans to have chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

Yea, now that's cool!

Ask him if he wants to make one more. 🙂

After WWII, GM offered technical support to design new car dealerships. Here is an interesting book they published in 1948.

@nickies Thanks for sharing this - it is an unbelievable resource and provides modellers with a few ideas not only on producing miniature showrooms but how to site them in a diorama setting.
