@karl

Thanks Karl. The title of the car was a clickable link, I just didn't identify it as such. Did so now.

Yes. I knew when Tom sent me photos months ago that I would not be able to decide on the colors that were to be available, and since I am crazy about the '54 New Yorker. Well!

When they were actually released, I was right. I am a sucker for different colors every time-I think the colors bring a special attitude to each model.

I got the yellow top down (mainly because this is the one from the former Walter P. Chrysler Museum-and I love that one)

The turquoise version is a great color, so I got it with the top up (in black)

The red w/the top up in white is to die for, so got that too. Tom surprised me with the Highlander interior, which is cool. So, the red open version got added to the mix.

All said and done, I am an addict, and that is four.

@jack-dodds  The only time I would buy multiples (and they would have to be bargains) is if I were planning conversions into a different variant.

Jack, John is a model addict, like me, but maybe more. He bought 4 Goldvard 1968 Ford Galaxie 500's. They came in 2 colors. The Tahitian Rose had the closed headlight doors and the Blue one (I forgot the Ford color name) has open headlight doors. He bought 2 Rose and 2 blue models. John converted one of the Tahitian Rose model to open headlight doors and converted one of the blue model to a closed headlight door model, and left the 2 remaining models (one Rose and one blue) as they came from Goldvarg.

He posted pics of all 4 models....he did a Fantastic conversion on the 2.

I did indeed. Seems crazy I guess, but I really wanted the Gulfstream Aqua w/closed headlight doors-since it wasn't made that way. I had to create my own.

@jcarnutz John - Are Tom Dirnberger's photos accurate with regard to the colors on this model?

John;

Hey, that is fantastic that you got all the beautiful variations....good for you!  I agonized over getting the yellow or turquoise top down version as I had planned to get just one but finally decided on yellow.  I didn't realize that this model had been released and had asked Tom to hold an order for one for me.  I guess I had better get back to him.  Lol.

Yes, the photos are accurate to the model. So, if you look at the 1:1 in the Chrysler Museum, which I've seen. The model is too bright of a yellow.

If I could hazard a guess, I am going to say the model is Chrysler's '54 color of Canary Yellow, the 1:1 is not. But then again, I found photos of both shades on '54 Chryslers that indicated them both to be Canary Yellow. So, either Chrysler had two different shades of yellow in 1954, or something is wrong. The lighter shade looks more like the '53 color of Casino Cream.

A lot of color switching went on in the 50s and that is compounded by restorers that muddle the waters with different colors on different years, so...

No matter what, the model is sweet, and the yellow is an impressive color.

John M:  Another reason I went with yellow rather than the turquoise is that, if I am correct, that gorgeous color was done on the Brooklin 1954 DeSoto sedan, which I have.  Part of my decision making in picking a color is how it will present in the display cabinet along with, in this case, other Chrysler products of that era.  Just one collector's thoughts.  By the way, if you don't mind my saying John, I have often wondered how the heck you are able to display your wonderful and ever-increasing collection.  I would be amazing to see I would think!

Pebble Beige (light brown interior) and Canary Yellow (green interior) are the two colors shown at the start of this thread.
