That 1939-40 Checker is so strange I'm going to have to get one.  What were they thinking with those open front fenders and weird grill?

@john-quilter The purpose of the simple design was to save on fender benders repair cost. As for the grille, I don't see it has being worse than the Lincoln of the period.
