Coming out of my meet and greet with Richard Knaack, I exchanged some photos of models I have on display to show how similar our collecting tastes are. He asked about a couple models in the back of one of my cabinets so I snapped a couple pics and thought I'd share them with y'all. These are some John Roberts originals using different wood framing techniques for each.
First is this 1947 Cadillac that started life as a BRK74 Cadillac Series 62 convertible. I saw this at the 43rd show in Chicago a couple years back but didn't jump on it. I regretted it all the way home and was pleased to see it pop up on eBay. I didn't make the same mistake and got it for my collection. Notice the spacer in the chassis to get it just a wee bit longer wheelbase.
Next is this beautifully redone woody that began as a BML27 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 limousine. I love the metallic green paint on this one. It really complements the two tone wood effect.
I really like both models and John's unique way of tackling the paneling effect for each. I'm happy to have both of them in my collection of woodies.
Very nice and both look great ! There is something cool about station wagon woodies. For the 1:1's still out there : Long May They Run !
...they do look well done - very good fabrication work - and they're very attractive models. 😎
both gorgeous but the gold one is over-the-top beautiful!
Having John Robert's models in your collection means you have some of the best models to be had. I only have a few and for that I'm sorry. Rick Thompson, who used to post here had the largest number of JR conversions I'm aware of.
John Roberts' creations are always amazing.....such a talent.
