I received my latest model from Buz today, the 1950 Buick Special Sedanette.  The color is called Old Ivory.  See attached pictures.  It will be a nice addition to my other Buick models.

Is there a seperate hood ornament? There is none to be seen in your pictures.

Yes, they come in a little baggy with the mirrors....Ed just hasn't attached them.

And thank you Ed for these pics....I championed hard for this model to be produced.

My green version is on its way also....

It will join the rest of the family.....

I have a question for you. How did the term “sedanette” originate?

I typically do not attach the little detail parts like mirrors, antenna, etc. I leave them in the plastic bag. That way I can put the model back in the original packaging without worrying about breaking them. If you look closely at photos, you will see the antenna at front windshield is attached in down position.  Model came that way.

@ed-davis  That's why I love Google@

Etymology[edit]

From Middle English -ette, a borrowing from Old French -ette, from Latin -itta, the feminine form of Latin -ittus.

Pronunciation[edit]

-ette

  1. Used to formnounsmeaning a smaller form of something.
    cigar+ ‎-ette→ ‎cigarette
    kitchen+ ‎-ette→ ‎kitchenette
    disk+ ‎-ette→ ‎diskette
  2. Used to form nouns meaning the female equivalent of.
    major+ ‎-ette→ ‎majorette
    bachelor+ ‎-ette→ ‎bachelorette
    smurf+ ‎-ette→ ‎Smurfette
  3. Used to form nouns meaning animitationorsubstituteof something.
    leather+ ‎-ette→ ‎leatherette

So "sedanette" was coined by some advertiser to suggest this Buick sedan was smaller or feminine or an imitation or very much like but just a little different from the good old regular Buick sedan.

@ben-lampson Is it just me or the hubcaps and wheels seem a bit weird? Otherwise they are nice models. When have they been issued?

A couple of things. First, is a picture of my 1950 Buick family.  There are only two members, both are Conquest models.  Second, are some photos for your hood ornament question.  I have a picture of the plastic bag with the mirror and hood ornament.  I also have two pictures showing the hood ornament on the black convertible.  The black convertible came with the hood ornament attached.

@ed-davis Thank you for the pictures. The hood ornament seems a very poor rendering and I understand nobody care about it.

Many years ago, I had a Design Studio 1948 Buick Roadmaster Coupe and the hood ornament was just right. I understand better why I have more interest in resin models.
