When I recently opened a Minimarque box for a 1981 Cadillac Seville (GRB64C), I was expecting exactly what was advertised and the model itself did not disappoint. It was pristine, beautifully finished, and exactly what you hope to see when lifting the lid on a marquee brand. What I did not expect was what was tucked inside alongside it.

Folded neatly inside the box was a small piece of paper holding nine in-scale photo-etched Cadillac hood ornaments, still attached to their original sprues. Clearly intended as spare parts from Illustra, it was a surprising find. While I appreciate the attention to detail Minimarque put into their models, I can confidently say I have no need for nine additional 1980s-era Cadillac hood ornaments.

Rather than letting them sit unused, I’d love to trade them to someone who could actually put them to use, whether for a restoration project, a custom build, or simply to complete a missing detail. Given how rarely these appear, and the fact that they’re presented exactly as found, I suspect they’re no longer available in this form. If you’re interested, let’s connect and make sure these little pieces of Cadillac excess find the right home.

I have a question about the model. I have seen pictures of Minimarque models with their headlights becoming amber or yellow. How are the headlights on your model?

@ed-davis They look pretty clear to me! I’m selling this model, by the way.
