CTCI (Classic Thunderbird Club International) Brooklin Thunderbirds

For some time I've been following on the EWACars website, under their "Brooklin Specials" listings, the CTCI '56 'Birds. Finally, when they appeared listed as "LAST ONE", I could no longer resist. I broke real bad ordering one at first and then the other. My wife even said, "Go for it." Before she came to her senses, I was quick to place a second call to Tim at EWA. Today, the 1988 Dallas CTCI Convention model arrived. It's Sage Green and is it a beauty! Tomorrow, the Williamsburg Edition in Peacock Blue will arrive. Now, amazingly enough, these are early Brooklins (#13) yet they are as accurate and well done as any recent Brooklins. The detail is excellent and proportions are accurate. For Early 'Bird enthusiasts who will never own the real thing, these Brooklins fill the need.

The CTCI Birds make a nice & colorful series.

There are 11 different models in the series encompassing 1955, 1956, and 1957 Birds. The CTCI meet is held in the US in even years. The first model was done for 1982 and promoted by a Canadian whose name escapes me. Models were then produced for 1988, 1990, 1992(2), 1994(3), 1996(2), and 1998. All but the initial model were produced under the direction of the English collector, David Angel. When you throw in standard versions, color variations, and those done for Miniature Cars (EWA), the Illinois Toy Show, and B.C.D., you have a lot of Thunderbirds. I quit when I got to 22.

Incredible, Dick,

I didn't realize there were that many. In addition to the standard Fiesta Red '56, I have the Colonial White and the '57 Willow Green. Now I have the '56 Sage Green and Peacock Blue. When polished, these cars are gorgeous. If I can find a Goldenrod Yellow I may go for that too. The Buckskin Tan cars were an early special are as haed to find as Republicans who favor gun control.

I can vouch for the buckskin tan (pink shade)being a beautiful colour. There is also a dark orange shade of buckskin tan which I have yet to see in the flesh. As you say David, these buckskin tan models are pretty rare.I have recorded the following on ebay:

5/11/04---- $375
28/8/05------$228
31/12/07---- ?165

According to the Brooklin guru, John Scrivens, there were three variations.

Buckskin Tan, a Pink shade, and a Dark Orange shade. In all, a total of 300 were made.

Orange version already there

The 2 models on Dirks sight are the pink version and the orange version not the std Buckskin tan version, John Scrivens and I have had 5 together to check them. At the Brooklin Club AGM we have started collating our collections so members can check their models against ours so determining which version they have. So happens that 2007 choices were the Bucksin Tan T birds and the metallic grey Grahams. In 2008 we'll do the 3 versions of the CTCS Nomad, and one other which we are not sure of yet. Any ideas which? If John and I can help we will.

Am I right in assuming that the pink is on the left and the orange on the right where both are shown as monitors & cameras can often confuse colours?.The orange shades of the BRK 12 Hudson would be my choice for the AGM.
