Has anyone been in contact with Dave "Buz" Kirkel lately? He has not been doing his "Fabulous Fridays" model car features for some time and he has not updated his "model of the month" since July. In addition, I sent him an e-mail last week about a car that I ordered and I have not received any response. It is not like Buz to not respond to e-mails. Just hope everything is OK.

I did exchange email with Buz on August 27 regarding some local car shows. He was ok then. Regarding no Friday emails and no August and September Model of the Month updates, maybe his model inventory is getting low.

@kenspear I’ve recently exchanged a couple emails with him. He’s been busy doing other things. But he is well.

I spoke with Buz about two weeks ago and he is okay. I believe Ed is correct that Buz' inventory is low which is why we haven't from him. He did say that getting new models from England has been slow.

@bob-jackman Relying only on England to build inventory is certainly keeping his business slow. I bought once from him 2 years ago and it was very hard to follow either by email or phone.

@nickies

Buz has been using SMTS for many years. For doing new or re-issuing Conquest, WMCE and Highway Travelers white metal models, I do not think there are any non-UK options.

I have bought from Buz / Rout66 and found them very direct and helpful.  I am grateful that they are keeping this white metal craftsmanship alive at a time of such change.

@nickies I've been buying from Buz longer than I can remember and have never had a problem of any kind. My experience with Buz and his wife Jean has always been one of a professional in all aspects of our relationship. What I respect most about Buz is that he truly knows cars both 1/1 and 1/43 scale and his models show that. While there are certainly obstacles facing white metal models from the standpoint of availability and the tremendous popularity of Resin models, I truly believe there are collectors who will still collect both as long as they are quality items which Buz' items have always been.

Just today I read an email from Buz. There's going to be an Edsel meet in Oak Ridge in late July!

@bob-jackman Alas, Buz says he won't take an Edsel for that long of a drive. But I plan on taking a lot of pictures next July. Our Double Tree has hosted other car groups in the past, including Hudsons and Minis.
