I first learned of the Xiao Guang (or Xiaoguang, or XiaoGuang) from MAR ( https://www.maronline.org.uk/xiao-guang-bond-db5/). I have the original gold Corgi Toy, a fantastic diecast for the mid-1960s and Britain's toy of the year way back when. (No, I never bought the later #270 silver version). Then Minichamps brought their version out, with a more realistic seat ejector, operating rear bullet shield and front ramming overriders.
So what's so special about this new version? Well it doesn't have a seat ejector with bad guy, but the roof panel is removeable. The bullet shield operates and the overriders extend, plus there are rear knockoff tire shredders that extend. And you get a James Bond figure too. But get this - opening hood with engine and opening doors, with real-aspect hinging, too! Awesome attention to shut-lines. Someone better tell those HOF folks about this one. And there's more to come from Chinese uber-detailed diecasts, stay tuned!
I will likely keep the MC version, since it ejects the baddie. Now all we need is a version with all the latest features, plus working ejector, rotating number plates, and pop-out machine guns. But until then here are the Corgi and Minichamps versions.
Fantastic Harv! Last year I bought Autoart's 1/18 version.... it's hard to resist these gorgeous Aston Martin DB5s in any scale! Your "new version" looks great - pretty impressive shut lines & hinges. 😎 😎
I want one 🙏 I'll never forget that day that I went to see Goldfinger. I was mesmerized and glued to my seat. I didn't think I could ever recall seeing such an exciting movie at my young age of 11. Steve
@mg-harv Based on your review and recommendation, I ordered one of these today. Thanks!
So, based on the review by @mg-harv, I ordered one that very night. And it arrived today. Who knew USPS did Sunday runs?
Anyway, when I unpacked it from the bubblewrap and foam, I thought I'd inadvertently purchased the wrong one because it looked like a closed curbside model. The shutlines on the doors and hood were too tight and exact. But sure enough, once I extricated it from its box, I was carefully able to open the doors, hood, and trigger the rear bullet shield panel. I'm impressed and you will be, too. Plus, it only took a week to get the model from China. I've waited longer for shipments from California!
@mg-harv Thanks for the recommendation!
@randyrusk I said it before..... those would be considered extremely good, tight, and uniform panel gaps in any scale; for 1/43, they're remarkable! - Better, IMO, than my 1/18 Autoart. I'm impressed! Congrats Randy, Harv. 😎 😎
@chris Still a great looking model. I really like your background garage elements, especially what’s on the pegboard.
Yup! I saw Harv's post and ordered one too. It should arrive tomorrow.
