This is listed as a 1964 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. Well, almost correct. A little internet research shows this to be Chassis CSX3009 from 1965. Origially built for competition by the Essex Wire team, it ended the 1965 season 4th in the USRRC series. Essex abandoned it in 1966, continuing its sponsorship of a Ford GT. By the 1970s it was owned by Bill Feinstein and as late as 1973 it won the SCCA ARRC Class championship. The 1:1 CSX3009 has since been restored back to its Essex Wire livery and has been called the winningest Cobra in history.
This is release No. 45 in the American car series from DeAgostini, which has been marketed in Mexico, Spain, and now France. The Feinstein paint and decal work is very well done, but why, you might ask, was this metallic green version chosen by Ixo? Well, Revell helped them along, having released a 1/24 plastic kit of this same car. I would not doubt in the least that the designers based this diecast on that kit and its decals. IMHO the Feinstain version is much prettier than the plain vanilla white Essex Wire car.
