I slipped up on my chronology by posting the Dodge Intrepid yesterday. Anyway, today I have two Crown Vics, a favorite of the patrol officers who used them, especially after problems encountered with the Caprices. Road Champs issued theirs in 1998 and it has opening doors and trunk. Once again, the blister-packed items could be found in big box stores or mail order retailers like Asheville Diecast. Instead of a license, the rear tag area just has '1998'. Note the chrome grille.
I read online that for 1999, Ford made a few changes for the police package, including a switch to a black grille. Gearbox made a nice diecast of this one, with poseable front wheels and all apertures opening (though some don't stay open). The rear plate says '1999'. Not bad for a 20+ year-old diecast.
