Tomica actually made three Celicas in their Dandy series. The first, the 1st Gen notchback style was a decent replica but far smaller than 1/43 scale - perhaps 1/50. The 2nd Gen car was 1/43 and represents the 1978 Liftback 2000GT. The model was also introduced in 1978:
When the third Gen car appeared in 1982, so did a new Tomica, this time as a Supra:
While not up to today's expectations of fidelity, these harken back to when diecast collectors sought out the best available, and these were primarily made and marketed as toys.

Nice Celicas! I owned 2 'real' ones and loved them. I have this old Zee Toys of the 2nd gen Celica. I also think it is closer to 1/50...
