Diorama: "I want the Rolls"
The new Silver Cloud is here, and some fortunate customers are visiting the dealer to know better such a fantastic car. In 'El Kekom?vil' we have 3 units, a standard sedan in white by TSM, an elegant Flying Spur by Matrix, and also by Matrix an impressive convertible -Matrix- in black over yellow livery perfect for people that don't like to be seen in their car...

Where's our buddy with the beer belly?
That odd color combo is so far from typical that there must have been a reason for Matrix' choice. A celebrity's car?
Black & yellow? This paint job jarred me, too. (pic) So I went to google and checked. With "Matrix 1/43 Rolls black yellow" I found multiple different models in shades of yellow (but all with the same black). Maybe it's just Matrix. So I dropped down to Rolls black yellow. The page filled with pictures. It seems either this is a popular 2-tone over the years for Rolls buyers/owners or at least with Rolls photographers.
Here is the 1:1, and thanks to Southeby's for their picture.

Always love your Dio's and presentations. "Thanks"
Yes I believe it was a stock color combo....how to cheapen a Rolls!
Here you have the real car
But does not say anything about a celeb owner...

Thanks, Keko. I posted one of these photos above.
The RM Sotheby's car is listed as a 1964 Silver Cloud III, registration J106192.
The Matrix is called a 1963 SC II, registration RRM 11A. Is it possible there are two of these bumblebees flying around?
I think Matrix got wrong in the name...
As it's clearly a Silver Cloud III with the twin front lights, Silver Cloud II was single lights... But it's possible that there are more than one SCIII Bumblebee flying somewhere...

I may have the answer to the Yellow Rolls........
I have an FYP Yellow and Black Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III Drophead, body by Hooper. It is the Geneva Show Car. Not sure which year. I will try and take a photo, but it is in a difficult location in my showcase, still on it's plastic covered base.
If it was on the Rolls Royce stand at the show, they would want a very bright and outstanding car to show off their wares,
FYP made expensive handbuilt R-R & Bentley models quite a few years ago. I show in my records that I have 15 of their models, including a 1978 Rolls Royce Phantom VI Chassis 101 Canberra III by Park Ward, with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip being driven by a chauffeur & footman, in the front seat. Quite outstanding of a model.
I was hoping there would be a "back story" on this 1:1.
On the "standard production" Silver Cloud sedan there was a fairly limited color range available. But on the Mulliner two door convertible, which was totally hand formed and assembled elsewhere at the RR works, you could have any possible color your heart desired.
Matrix' other color available was a more staid silver with green interior straight out of the sedan's color range.
