Building this older kit has been an exercise in ageing abilities, eyesight, my limited skills, and, mostly, patience. White metal modeling has improved a whole lot in the last thirty+ years, and this one has, I hope, been recast. Filler, filing, drilling, painting, stripping, repainting, etc. ad infinitum. Anyhow, here 'tis.
Next time? I'm looking for something.

Nice work, David. That sure was a rough casting you had to work with.
I wonder if they would sell such a casting back in the day, or maybe put it aside for a couple decades? But you have saved it, with some additional work, and now it looks good. If you ever think to improve it more, I think the body could sit better down on those tires. Perfection is elusive. In fact, for humans, it's probably unobtainable.

This is from the early days of white metal kits. The late Barry Lester was very much a pioneer learning as he went along. There are now much better kits of this Ferrari but this nicely made kit has its place as a good example of the early days of collectors models.

David - The October 1975 issue of Modellers World shows the Ferrari 166MM as a new issue.
For comparison, here is one of the many diecasts of this car made by Art Model in Italy.

Here is the main drawing from the directions. It compares very well with your beautiful racing car. But in 1974 Auto Replicas just wasn't producing fine finishing.
