It's been a crazy month and a half (see my response to Randy Rusk's post from a few days ago). Now if I can just shake off this slight limp I have.
My daughter vacationed in Germany and Austria during December. As the owner of an X5, she had to make a pilgrimage to the BMW Museum in Munich. My souvenir is this BMW Isetta, complete with museum box and the actual purchase bag.
The symbol on the base is that of Hongwell, and I believe they are associated with Cararama. Anyone know the exact relationship (I'm too lazy at the moment to go to hobbydb)? The box says it's an Isetta 250. An online search showed the 250 appeared in 1955, with so-called 'bubble' side windows. But in 1956 the 300 appeared, with flatter sliding windows, like this diecast. But I don't know if the 250 was discontinued or remained in production along with the larger-engined 300. Anyway, a cute little car and a nice Christmas gift from my daughter.
BTW, I have one other Isetta, made by Spot-On almost 60 years ago in Northern Ireland.
Nice souvenir.
