Ford Crown Vicyoria Daytona Ohio State Police 2004.

As a collector of 1/43 Ford Motor Company cars, I dream of many models. Sometimes I find them, sometimes I don't. In many cases, you need to be patient, lucky, and optimistic. Perhaps this will help many collectors achieve their goal. I learned about Gearbox several years ago when I was researching 1/43 Ford Crown Victoria models. When I saw these superbly detailed diecast models, I was very impressed. Unfortunately, Gearbox models are quite rare in my country, and I had given up all hope of ever buying one. At least a couple of weeks ago, I found an interesting item at a store. The price was quite reasonable, and I bought a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Daytona Ohio State Police model without hesitation. The Gearbox model is truly beautiful and neat. First of all, it has very original packaging – a wide cardboard box with a blister pack inside that secures the doors, hood, and trunk in the open position. The blister pack also locks the open parts closed. If you look at the bottom of the box, you'll see a superbly detailed baseplate containing parts for the drivetrain, exhaust system, and suspension. I think this is a very interesting presentation. The box itself reveals the miniature's design features, the manufacturer's address, and the Ford and GM licenses. The model itself features a well-detailed engine under the hood, a spare tire in the trunk, and beautiful, neat interior details. A very interesting feature is the rotating front wheels. The wheels are very well modeled for a diecast model. The headlights and taillights are spare plastic parts. As far as I know, Gearbox has produced a number of Crown Victorias from various states. As for other 1/43 scale models, they have also produced Ford Explorers, Chevrolet Caprices, and 1940s Ford and Chevrolet Pickups. Most of the cars had police and other emergency liveries. All of them were superbly detailed. Apparently, these models were produced in the mid- to late 2000s. Nowadays, if you have access to eBay, you can easily find them for sale at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, I don't know anything else about Gearbox. I heard they also did large-scale production. In any case, I think the company is no longer in existence, but their models show that it was possible to make accurate diecast replicas at a low price. Modern diecast and resin manufacturers produce simpler, but more expensive models.
Does anybody have other models by Gearbpx in 1/43 scale? Would be interesting to see them.
Those all look excellent ! The big Ford Crown Victoria was seen pretty much everywhere, especially as a police vehicle. I have this era Ford CV in about 1/44 scale from Kinsmart that I modified into civilian form, as well as several police and civilian 1941 Fords that were done really well by Gearbox.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ON THE SUBJECT OF PHOTOS:
JK and I are very incensed to learn that an unauthorized photo of a prime candidate for our Forum Quiz 2026 Super Grande Prize has been leaked and is surfacing in auto enthusiast circles. We are heartbroken to find that spy cam images of our Luxury Touring Sedan prototype, code name Project 10 Karat Whinney-Deusie, were illegally taken at our undisclosed fuel testing facility. In an attempt to respond to minor and undeserved cheap shots regarding unsophisticated styling and poor fit and finish of the previous Grande Prize Trabant SS Demi-Coupe, JK and I decided to break the bank and reached for the stars in 2026. Alas this despicable turn of events has spoiled the element of surprise we had planned in order to maximize ticket sale revenue and replenish company coffers. We are well into this project financially and time wise, so to abandon it is not in the cards. We are nonetheless determined to find a way to increase the contest excitement to mirror the crescendo reached with the Trabant SS. JK is secretly consulting with Caribbean based artists regarding the addition of a secondary paint finish enhancement....a consultation code named "Flamingo Fenders". I fear that perhaps I have said too much, so I will leave it at that. Wish us luck and don't forget to save your ticket money for this one! Remember we are not motivated by personal profit....we do this for you.
I have couple of Gearbox models, but in 1/18, both 1953 Fords, a truck and a panel van, in liveries.
@michaeldetorrice Thank you very much for photos. Are you sure that the 1941 Ford has been made by Gearbox? Perhaps this is First Response/ White Rose Collectables or American Heritage?
Yes, I think you are right about the 1941 Ford being by First Response. I believe I may have also heard that the First Response '41 Fords may have been made for them by Fleer or Gearbox in the Chinese factories. It can get confusing but you are quite right it is more accurate to refer to them as First Response police/official vehicles in any case.
