I finally took the time to finish up the photos of this model. Issued by Conquest/Route 66 Models. The 1st colors were issue in 2020 and then two more were issued in 2021.

I do need some help with these models, however. I didn't update my database when these models were issued (not sure I was including all model info at that time) Anyway, I bought five of them when they were issued and another the next year when the two new colors were released. For the original group, was it just five colors? And how were they offered? Starting with convertibles I have, Ebony Black & Provincial White were the two I bought. The black is closed and the white is open. Where they also offered in opposite versions? For the three hardtops I have, were they offered as only hardtops? Or were convertible versions offered as well? I checked hobbydb and unfortunately, they are only showing two variations of the model. The Garnet Mist and the Red/White. I'll update it further with the info I already have and anymore that I can get. I appreciate any info that is known and your willingness to share, thanks.

Oh, I know that some of these models have those rather large wipers - I considered taking them off - but never did.

1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Hardtop Sport Coupe and Convertible

Here's the 1st of the three models I have (since there are there are limitations for the # of photos posted - I do it in two posts)

This is the only one I've posted previously. Issued in 2021, it is Chariot Red w/a white top (I recall the other color was yellow w/a white top - I thought the color "too yellow" for me and passed on it. Probably shouldn't have done that, but...

Here is my garnet mist convertible. I also have the red and white two door hardtop, which you show.

@ed-davis

Thanks Ed, you answered one of my questions as to whether the hardtops were available in convertibles too. This one is, anyway, that's great interior colors.

OK, the yellow is not too bright, so not sure why I passed on it looking at yours. Very nice.

I believe they were offered in three groups.

The first group included four different colors, garnet mist, white, blue, and black.

The second group was just sunset mist.

The third group included the red and white hardtop and the yellow hardtop.

I do not remember all the top down, top up, and hardtop versions for first two groups. The third group was only hardtop.

@ed-davis Ed, I love the convertible in Garnet Mist. For some reason I missed this one in this color.

@bob-jackman It is one of my favorites. I really like American cars from the 1960s, since I remember seeing them when growing up and starting to drive.

Hello all. Yes, these are impressive images of the 62 Starfire. I know this has been discussed before, but the oversized wipers do not pay homage to such a beautiful model, especially such an expensive one, that many found outside of their spending threshold. I understand that an effort to correct this was made to later production cars. I also have one of the original models as a hardtop in garnet. I currently display it sans the wipers so I am not distracted by this flaw. I want to be clear, I am not knocking the craftsmanship behind the creation. Just commenting on the post production review. As a purveyor and model enhancer, I do my best to pay attention to authenticity. I am sure that we all are grateful for all the model's that are produced for the hobby. I have seen in many previous posts comparisons to the 1:1 cars being copied, i.e. wrong wheel covers, etc  I am glad that most of us are diligent in how we view the models while being grateful for their existence. iMO
