It seems if you bought the optional wires you only got four and the spare was a steel wheel which Acme replicated correctly. When you bought a Thunderbird Sports Roadster, you received five which included the spare which my 1/1 has.
The Devil's in the details! Glad to know your 1:1 AND 1/18 scale wheels are factory correct! 😀 😎 😀
"Chris, I could NOT resist those colors!"
Yep, neither could I.... IMO, one of Chrysler Corp.'s best three-tone liveries! 😎 😎 I always thought it looked even better on the '55 Dodge!
@whodeytink Or, the accountant forgot to pay the hosting fee for the year.
Bob, sorry to disappoint, but when you ordered the Motor Wheel wires, you got five of them. Over the years I’m sure many of the spares were lost or stolen. Chrysler Corp. was very fussy about the look of their cars.
I can't disprove what you say but I have my doubts. I got my 55 Imperial in a trade with my dentist for my 55 Thunderbird. My Dentist bought it out of a collection in San Diego, Ca. The car has 47,000 miles on it and is all original in every respect including the spare tire which has no date codes on it and shows no signs of ever having been on the ground and is mounted on a steel wheel which also shows no signs of ever having been on the ground.
