OK, please forgive me for my obsessive behavior. As many may remember, when the '54 Chrysler New Yorker models came out, I was crazy enough to pick one of each up for my collection. My craziness didn't end there, however. Recently, I added a couple more. The one featured in this post and a couple more convertibles, all for some modifications.
As you can see from these photos, this hardtop coupe received a new set of wire wheels. Since this is my favorite of the colors released, I thought it needed a bit of dressing up. The two convertibles will undergo a few more modifications, but that will move along slowly as this is not really my forte. More on those later.
Anyway, here's my 2nd one in this color.1954 Chrysler New Yorker DeLuxe Newport Hardtop Coupe, a LE #15 of 75 in Sea Island Green & Mint Green
What beautiful cars and it's a great look with the wire wheels, too ! These Chryslers really stand out and it is an incredibly nice way to get around town. Somehow, I feel 75 years from now and at our loss, personal automobiles may not have this class and style ........
@jcarnutz OK John, you've done it again...it's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last...I just put in my order with Tom for this 2-tone green hardtop! Thanks for the inspiration!

So, you're claiming that these 2087 & 2092 Dodge Star Force-12B-7a Transportation Pods are not as attractive as this 1954 Chrysler?
John M., The green is the color I chose for this wonderful model. Rarely do I buy more than one color in a model and even at that I'm out of room for display space. Where do you display all of your models?
Did you ever consider collecting diecast model airplanes. Many of them are quite detailed. You can hang them from the ceiling. Just use strong wire, since they can be quite heavy with all that metal. Happy collecting!
@jcarnutz John, I just remembered that I have this sales brochure...
Interesting thought...the Town & Country wagon was part of the base New Yorker rather than the upgraded New Yorker Deluxe series. Each series had different wheel covers, per the catalog illustrations above. Yet our 1/43 wagons seem to have the Deluxe wheel covers...
@ed-davis Ed, I love airplanes but with 6,000 plus model cars I can't see myself adding another category. We live in the south and have no basements so the planes hanging from the ceilings would be a bit much for my understanding wife. Each year one of the car clubs I belong to, puts on a show at the Air National Guard base to raise money for their family relief fund. The base is a training center for pilots of the Boeing C 17 cargo planes and as such I do have a 1/200 scale diecast model of this plane on a book shelf.
