Here's what one dealer on the internet writes:
This is the 1974 Chrysler Newport Dark Brown Resin Model Car in 1:43 Scale by GLM.
Excellent quality and finish. Beautifully crafted and exquisitely detailed.
- Models are hand painted, decorated and assembled
- Beautiful detail and accuracy of shape and scale
- Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are also used.
- Each model comes with its own acrylic display case.
- (and he priced it at $104.95)
Thanks David. I am assuming that this is a pre-order. Odd that it doesn't show on GLM website.
Ken, That does not look like the 'typical' GLM packaging and baseplate design?? Are you sure the model is from GLM and not another mfg? Possibly Matrix?
I am not sure that it is from GLM. That is the reason why I raised the question. The model was listed on Ebay #185382753288 as a "new" GLM model, but it has now been removed. It does not appear under sold or completed either. It was listed as "new" by a seller in China. I just find something odd about this listing. The last photo shows this model as GLM 106401 on the box but I cannot find any reference to this number.
I've asked on the GLM FB page - we'll see what the reply is.
GLM on their Facebook page have announced that this car is an unauthorized release and telling the public not to buy it. Apparently a couple of years ago, GLM refused to release it due to substandard and inferior construction. It now appears that the factory or someone connected to the factory has gone ahead with production and releasing them as GLM approved in GLM boxes.
A travesty. Not the first time we've heard of something like this.
