Just received this gem. A beautiful model. I opted for the single color blue as opposed to the two tone red body with white top. I don't remember the white top cars so much out in Northern California back in the day and I think it looks sportier in the single color.

I don't remember seeing many two tone cars while growing up in Western NY either.

My grandfather's '61 Bel Air was Fawn Beige. His '68 Torino was a light yellow. My dad's '59 Impala was white and '63 Country Squire was Vintage Burgundy.

My uncle's '59 Plymouth was white and so was his '63 Mercury.

The blue looks great. Mine has just arrived-not out of the box yet.

Interesting to discover, from the article you mention, that Goldvarg is apparently developing a 1963 Buick Electra.  I hope it is a 2drht. as that was a gorgeous car.

It might be a misprint, as the photos show a 1961 (on sale already on his website)...

Karl;  Yes I considered that too but the '63 and '61 comments seem separated.  Not sure, but I took it to mean that there wasn't a pic of the '63 available just yet.  Maybe Sergio can answer this question.

Curtis, I also have the blue model coming. Like you I don't remember seeing a 1/1 in two tone paint in the St. Louis, Mo area when they were new.

I like the '63 Electra a lot but the trim and tail light design that really grabs me is the Wildcat!

@jack-dodds Sergio confirms that it should be a 1961, but stay tuned for more news!

Karl;

I just recalled a recent Facebook comment by someone well connected (shall we say) and I think you're right....news is coming!  Meanwhile let's think "Wildcat" 2drht.  😊
