POLITOYS? I confess that I scratched my head on that one, trying to remember. No luck in my 1:43 shelves and cases, nothing over in my "old stuff," and later, looking for something else, I found one. Here it is:
And as I was putting it back into my little Disney collection, I found this one:
These are larger than Matchbox, also much heavier. Betcha weren't expecting this kind of Polistil!
Hi David,
Politoys/Polistil made all sorts of scale items. My largest are Alfas and Jaguars in 1/16th scale.
They had a working relationship with Walt Disney and produced several models. Here is another one (not mine). The produced a nice series of automobiles in 1/24 scale, slightly better than Bburago.
Thanks, David. I've seen pictures of the Scrooge limo above, even thought of buying one. But really the Disney stuff isn't that important to me. I just got a kick out of finding some Polistil after reading your good pictures and information.
Some corrections to David Green's numbers. The Alfa Grand Sport Quattroroute is No. 532. It is not a 2600 Zagato - that was No. 530. The Canguro is No. 529 (523 was the Alfa Giulia sedan).
Sloppy on my part Harv, now corrected. I should have read the bases more carefully.
You have a very nice collection there. A few is a slight understatement.
Here is another one. No 540 Ferrari 275 GTB.
@david-green After a bit of soul-searching I sold my 540 275 GTB. The shape is just all wrong. I have however, held onto my Dinky 275 GTB Shortnose and my Box model Spyder. Plus some race versions.
