Here are 3 of my favourite 1940's Mopar convertibles. While photographing these cars, it occurred to me that Dodge, Plymouth, Desoto did not change the overall shape of their convertible 2 drs from 1942 all the way to 1950. Also refer to Brooklin's 1950 Dodge convertible. The cars pictured from left to right are 1942 Desoto,
1947 Dodge and 1947 Plymouth. I would like to add the Brooklin 1950 Dodge convertible:maybe in red.
I like these. My Grandpa was a mechanic at a Chrysler Plymouth dealership. I think I like these cars because it was about 1947 that he used to take toddler me down to see the new models.
Beautiful models....would like to see the coupes done.
David, I love this model. All, Victory models did several Mopar models of the forties including Chryslers and DeSotos.
@d-m-holcombe That's one big booty! Thanks David.
@jack-dodds And one lengthened into a Chrysler New Yorker business coupe. When building this kit, I took the central molding off the trunk lid as I did not think that was correct.

Hello Ken, this is an excellent line-up. I believe the Dodge and Plymouth are Conquest models. But could you let me know who the manufacturer of the '42 DeSoto is?
I've been wanting a chestnut burgundy/brown version of this car that Buzz at Route 66 had for a while, but I left it too late.
Good looking results, John. Any business coupe brings back memories. Close to the end of WW II, my dad wrecked his '42 Pontiac, totaled it. Somehow he got ahold of a Chevrolet business coupe, '40 or '41, that was almost new. Anyhow, an aunt and my mother decided to drive from our home in western North Carolina to Daytona Beach, Florida, in that Chevy. My brother and I, about 2 and 7 years old, rode in the "business" section all that distance. I still remember that trip! But my brother doesn't.

Charles, unfortunately, I don't know the make of the '42 Desoto. I bought it in kit form on eBay. It came in a plain white box with no markings on the box or car. It came pre-colored. I only painted the interior. All chrome grills, bumpers, ornaments are made of good quality metal.I added bare metal foil on side trim.I originally though that it was a Victory Model but have been told that it is not. I posted it before on the forum asking if anyone knew the manufacturer but no one could help.It cames with either top up or top down.
Ken, I'm sure this is not news to you, but I'll add my two cents worth. Jerry Rettig's AMERICAN WHEELS, page I-17, lists:
DeSoto 1942 Conv/TD&TU Custom 5th Ave Victory VM-12 WM/resin
Whatever, it's a great looking model!
