Someone would give me a model of my old '68 Ford 390 Galaxy fastback. This was originally my old man's car bought in 1968. He was a no-frills kinda guy so he wasn't going to go for the 500 XL package. I thought it pretty hip of him to get the fastback roof, but he explained to me he ordered it because his salt water fishing poles would fit inside. A year after I got out of the Army, he sold it to me and and I probably put another 250,000 miles on it. I loved the car so much that I went to have it restored some 20 years later. Because it wasn't a collector car, the guys at the shop were asking me if I really wanted to spend the money on it. The bad news came when they put it on the lift and saw the damage that New Jersey winters had done which meant $20,000 just to fabricate a new unibody. Their recommendation was to get back in the car, don't slam the door and drive straight to the nearest junkyard before the car split in half! Well, at the tender age of 79, Sergio Goldvarg delivered. As most of you know, I primarily collect larger scales and the last Goldvarg model I bought was a '53 Mercury Sun Valley mailed from Argentina to give you an idea. The model is stunning. The finish is flawless and the textures on the interior are amazingly replicated in such a small scale. I'm pretty darned happy to have it.
Congratulations! Sergio produces some amazing models in 1/43 and these Fords are no exception. The earlier color variations command huge premiums on the secondary market.
It is always great to have a model of a car you owned. Congratulations on your purchase.
