i just received the 52 chevy styleline coupe in orange /white .it is nice but with a sun visor it will be gorgeous .
I am sure you are right, but on the other hand I'm not sure whether cars with sun visors were still made at that time, since I recall that very few were still running by the end of the decade. Think I saw the last running in 1955!
PICS--Outside visors were available through 1958 models for some GM cars. In 1959 windshields into the roofs made them impractical to fit and mount.

Air conditioning was not common on cars until the 1960's, even though it was increasingly optional (and fairly dependable!) by the mid-50s. Today it's very easy to forget how hot our cars were before air conditioning. Those big sun shades, as well as smaller versions on side windows, really helped. Of course, they were also hard on vision, and seeing caution lights became problematic! These giant sun visors were also noisy at higher speeds, but before the coming of the interstate highway system, steady driving at 60 mph was unusual, at least in the eastern USA.
Frank, thanks for posting these pictures, since the only cars I recall having seen were of the 1946/51 era and by the time I began going to school, it was very seldom to see one still running. If I remember correctly, they were then called old-
fashioned!

Or maybe this just tells us of the Argentinian fashions? I also have a Packard estate car from the Goldvarg Collection that has a similar visor.
The only model I have in that line is a 1949 De Soto Coupe recently released by Neo. I'm certainly happy to have it, but also eager to get a Motor City 1949 De Soto convertible that has just been sent to me! it will be a nice addition!
