One of the things it track was the into date, AND deletion date for their models. Intro dates were also put on box labels for a time. With the transfer of data to hobbyDB, a lot has been lost, or mis-entered.
Case in point is the Buick Collection. I received four of these from Ray's auction and have begun entering the data on my spreadsheet. So I got to hobbydb for some data, and right off the bat I see that BC 004 is listed as having appeared in 2010. My own records show this item should be shown as 2008, and I acquired mine in March 2009. So I corrected the hobbydb entry. But many more have no intro dates, and several are definitely suspicious. So my trust in hobbydb is at the 'take with a grain of salt' level. Gianluigi's book is no help either - Vol. 1 says the Buick Collection appeared in 2007, but there is no individual data.
So does anyone know when the various Buicks actually appeared? And when did the BC series get withdrawn? And was BC029 the last one?
@mg_harv
Harv,
The Brooklin Buick Collection debuted in the last quarter of 2007. BC001 and BC 002 were available for purchase at that time. During Q1 of 2008, BC003 arrived. All were listed at $105.00.
This information comes from The Dominion Quarterly, issues JUL/AUG/SEPT 2007, OCT/NOV/DEC 2007 and JAN/FEB/MAR 2008.
@lloyd-mecca I guess I always have the option of digging through all those old Dominion newsletters, or issues of MAR for that matter. I was hoping someone had a reliable list somewhere.
I'm thinkin' this is as reliable as it gets. They were not in previous issues, and are in subsequent issues to those listed, along with Bob's commentary about the new collection.
I will have to go through my old TfC newsletters too, to find when my Ashton Ahrens-Fox was introduced. Seems those entering data at hobbydb have put release dates as the date of the model represented. So a bunch of Ashtons are shown as having been released in the 1920s. Garbage in, garbage out.
Whatever info and photos that Brooklin had, we entered into hobbyDB. Then anyone can edit an item as well. So there is garbage in there, and it is up to us experts to fix it. A bit like wiki; it is 'crowd-sourced'! https://www.hobbydb.com/marketplaces/hobbydb/subjects/the-buick-collection-series
