So, what do you do with surplus WWII military vehicles as you rebuild your economy? You convert what you can to support tourism. Such is the case with the DUKW, a water to land troop carrier that could now provide tours to everyone. Perfex has several models coming replicating various tour services in France and England, including this London Duck Tours example. It’s expected to be released any day now…

Very nice, with so much detail.  I love my French Dinky DUKW, packed away in a box somewhere!

Not long ago once of these being used for a tourist boat sank and if I recall correctly there were some drownings.   Very unfortunate.   Big investigation, and more safety rules to be put in place.

@john-quilter

You are correct. The accident occurred near Branson, Missouri in 2018. I believe 17 people died.

@john-quilter In 2015, one crashed in a tourist bus in Seattle when its front axle broke for lack of maintenance, killing 6 people and injuring more than 60. The company went bankrupt in 2020 and hundred of millions have been awarded.

I love these and have often thought about scratch building one in 1/18 (to fit in with my 1/18 WW II collection ). Years ago in Boston, I saw a few of these in action as tourist rides/tours. Very cool!
