It rained around here today, a rarity, so I stayed indoors and completed the modifications on my new acquisition of the Brooklin Police Laboratory car. Repainted and detailed the interior to stock specs and added a rear view mirror. Added a outside swan neck mirror as the "bad" photo shows of the real car and replaced the spotlight with one mounted in the correct position with a shorter neck again as the 1:1 shows. Bare metal foil on the windshield surround and hood and vent windows along with painted blind nuts on the wood made a big difference. Also added a full length antenna rather than the retracted one that comes with the model. Overall a little fun on a rainy day and another welcome addition to my woodie family!

Curtis what is a swain neck mirror?
Curtis what is a swain neck mirror?
Bob, I originally misspelled swan in the post. The Ford swan neck mirror was the authorized outside rear view mirror in 1948. Anything else was after market even if sold by a dealer and not Ford factory authorized. It looks like the photo below.

Thanks for the explanation! Now I know why it's a swan!
