The Imp in this magenta color with white interior and top is just stunning, IMHO. I debated a while on top down vs. up but, at the sacrifice of easily viewing interior detail, I think the raised top gives the car a very rakish appearance. The p/e details like the "Imperial" script on the sides, is exquisite. The paint is absolutely flawless. If this one had wire wheels, it would look just like one RM Sotheby's sold in 2013 for 6 figures. I got #102 of 109.
Wow, this one is a stunner ! Great looking '61 Imperial.
Your pictures, Harv, show how incredibly accurate this GLM Imperial is. Gorgeous car, fantastic model, and great pictures.

That is one beautiful Imperial...and I mean that in both scales !
Beautiful! I went with Tom's teal with black up top LE and absolutely love it.
While it is a cute model, I tried to dissuade GLM from doing this color, as Dubonnet was a Chrysler only color not available on Imperial. You might say “Yes but you could’ve special-ordered this color”. Maybe, but the likelihood of someone ordering a Chrysler color for their Imperial is remote. It would have been far more likely for a buyer to special order an Imperial color on their Chrysler. IMHO.
Just a beautiful model.
@dirn But you gotta admit, there's at least one out there like it.
The purple Dubonnet looks spectacular both on the !:1 and on the 1:43 but I agree with Tom regarding colors. and prefer factory colors available for that subject, that year. To me accuracy of color is as meaningful as shape, trim, and other details. This way it's an actual slice of the era it came from. [Disclosure: years married to a cataloger of regional history artifacts has slanted my outlook. The color thing is just my own fussiness, as Lynn and I are obsessed with evolution of 20th century popular history and culture].
But I also think any sharp purplish or bright mauve look-at-me shade was more exciting for a jet age 1960 look than the available been-there-already red or black!
I love the color and I have seen a 1:1 done in that color, maybe the same one Harv pictured. Anyway, this is one I didn’t have, so ordered it this morning.

A splendid model. I've always liked the fins and taillights on the 1961 Imperial.
I'm with Al on the fins and tail-lights. I also love those headlights !!
Heck, I love the whole car !!
