My 1960 Kess Imperial has had problems. The chrome windscreen warped like a banana and the chrome strips on the roof bent up to look like horns. Tried to repair it  and attach a photo of the result.  Not too good. Resin it seems doesn't  take kindly to repairs. Has anyone else had similar problems ? I am off Kess as a result.

Sorry about your model. I do not have any Kess models, but have had similar problems with chrome trim separating from the body casting on other resin models.  The latest is an Automodello 1938 Packard (chrome trim along running board). There are several possible causes previously discussed in the forum, such as having to use very tiny amounts of glue, glueing directly to paint, different expansion rate of materials, etc.

I'm the quintessential fastidious collector (real & scale! ). I do sweat the small stuff,  however, parts falling off or "twisting,"  or coming loose, etc., is all par for course. Is it not?

I keep my CA glue (Krazy glue ), Mod Podge, clear nail polish, and Canopy glue handy.  I realize certain resins may emit microscopic oils, but I can't believe none of the very good Crystal-Clear drying hobby glues  on the market can't fix these annoying but common issues.

@chris The problem was the chrome surround of the windscreen had warped so badly it stuck out of the windscreen by the equivalent of a wiper blade. The chrome on the roof literally looked like bulls horns.  This was not a question of nail polish and glue. I had to cut the windscreen chrome surround and as far as the roof was concerned, when I removed the chrome the area was badly pitted. You can see this if you look carefully at the picture. I should have taken a picture of it before I resorted to cutting off the chrome bits. Maybe I was just unlucky that my model was a particularly defective one. I only posted this to see if anyone else had problems that to me cannot be rectified on this model.

@tim-hart, this is sad and a bit more unusual than what most of us experience. If you haven't already, you should contact Kess or your dealer and let them know.

I have bought a number of Chromes, Ilario, Evrat, M.A. and ABC Brianza models, all of which are resin models and have never had any issues with chrome parts coming away. And yet I have often had similar issues to Tim's Imperial with Neo's 1970s models.  I have always put this down to quality of production.

@tim-hart Got it. True, I didn't realize your situation is actually more about "damage"  than it is about "loose parts."  Obviously, something was amiss during production. As John suggested, I would contact Kess. Because you made repairs, I'm not certain if your local dealer could (or be willing to ) do something.

Good luck!

No more Kess for me either.  Parts coming loose, etc.  They have poor quality control.
