The Lamborghini Diablo is a high-performance mid-engine sports car built by Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini between 1990 and 2001. It is the first production Lamborghini capable of attaining a top speed in excess of 320 kilometres per hour (200 mph). After the end of its production run in 2001, the Diablo was replaced by the Lamborghini Murcielago. The name Diablo means "devil" in Spanish, even though this car followed a Lamborghini practice of being named for famed fighting bulls. (This information is from Wikipedia, the beginning of an excellent article on this "Diablo.") (Remember that pictures may be enlarged by touching on them.)
I hesitated on the purchase, much less the construction, of this pre-painted metal kit because (1) I know utterly nothing of Lamborghini, and (2) my interests are in cars of the pre-1960 era, the earlier the better. But the kit was in excellent condition, one of three in a job lot, the price was attractive, and I have been a little tired from my spring yard work and ready for an easy build. Bburago kits are usually excellent in quality and simple in construction. So. . . .
Parts were all present, the red paint needed a little polishing from careless re-packaging at some point, some of the tiny decals seemed redundant, but that cream/beige interior really turned me off. Some research showed at least one Diablo has such an interior, but more prevalent was a red + black combination. I took that choice. One of the little guys around here at that point volunteered as a driver, and he fit! Another also volunteered, but was voted down.
The exterior was more detail than broad strokes. Here's are examples:
The results:
And a note on methodology:
It's been a good ride!
