Mach One Models?
Hi all, I've been promising myself for years now that i'm going to collect Land Speed Record cars and have always been fascinated by the Campbell's and Bluebird.
Does anyone know how to contact Mach One Models who i know make some pretty nice kits of these LSR cars. Any help would be great.
Cheers Mo..
I have a thing about LSRs too Mo...especially the between the wars stuff.
Went to Pendine last week and saw Babs at the museum. Last time was at Brooklands when the Liberty engine made the concrete shudder...fantastic! Do you know if anyone has made a model of Babs?
Sorry John, Babs is one of the models i'm after and have no idea if one was made. Last time i saw her was under a sheet at Goodwood, so still never really saw her in the flesh so to speak. By the sounds of it Mach One are now doing quite a range, so hopefully Babs will be one.
Hello Mo! Mach One Models is Ian Jones.
The last email address I have from him is:
Mach1Mod@aol.com
and his address is:
47, Bradwell Close
Mickleover,
Derby DE3 9DY
UK
As far as I am aware, he has none of the "Babs" versions in his range. Milestone Miniatures had some of the early versions and Ralph Foster (Pandora Models) did both the record and the accident versions.
It has been a long time since I saw anything new from Ralph though, and Ian seems to buy up a lot of masters/dies (which he did with John Shinton's range of LSR models as well as Fred Harris' Replicast Record Models, at least the cars).
Hope the info helps, but let me know if you still have problems. I may have Ian's telephone number somewhere!
Arie
Mo, if you are interested in a listing of what was recently, and is currently available, let me know as I have compiled an excel file with that info.
As I did start that about 10 years ago, some of the older models may no longer be available new, but possibly through auction sites, like Western Models, John Shinton, Replicars (all out of the LSR business now) and some early Fadini models.

Thanks Arie
If you could send me that list please it would be gratefully accepted, as i'm really trying to get into these models. I would imagine you have a few of these models? Could you point me in the right direction as to which are good and bad? The couple of westerns i have (Gardiner MG and Spirit of America)seem to be very good.
Cheers for all your help
Sorry Arie
If you have Ian's number that would be great, im at mbrown2262@aol.com.
Cheers Mo..
Info on its' way now!
Arie....... You are a STAR
Can't thank you enough for all info and help you've given me. Anything i can do to help you. just ask.
Cheers Mo..
My pleasure! When it comes to LSR I am a bit of an anorak!
Mach One
I don't believe Mach One sells directly. I get mine from Grand Prix Models
http://www.grandprixmodels.com.
Excellent service and they take plastic so there's no extra charge for currency conversion.

Babs
There have been at least two models made of Babs-- unfortunately my aged brain cells can't recall just who made them but they date back more than 20 tears.
Wayne
You are absolutely correct Wayne! Mo sorry I forgot to add these guys as well!
I've seen Babs three times this year.
She was at Goodwood and Brooklands...the Liberty engine made the concrete shudder! I saw her the weekend before last at Pendine, her spiritual home. The Pendine Museum of Speed is small and free to enter. Babs lives there for some of the year together with some motorbikes. I hadn't realised until I visited that she was originally called the Higham Special and was built for Count Louis Zowbroski of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang fame (the original not the Ford Transit engined film version). When the count died Parry Thomas bought the car, modified it and renamed it Babs...I guess you guys all know this so I'll sign off
