This Unimog was part of Märklin’s RAK series and was available from 1970 to 1975. RAK models were to 1:43rd scale and the series commenced in 1968 and lasted until 1975.
The Unimog was available on its own under 1830 and was only issued in green. It was also released in a box set as 1831 which contained seven different parts to replicate the diverse roles that the real vehicle would have undertaken. These parts included an excavator, shovel, trailer etc… These accessories were also available split into two different boxes under numbers 1832 and 1833.
Although nicely detailed the let down are the wheels which are of the fast wheel type and the hollow tyres rather spoil the purposeful cross-country rugged vehicle feel.
In 2009 a replica was issued as part of Märklin’s 150 years anniversary celebration. This was numbered 18310 and contained all the items as originally issued under 1831. The colour of the Unimog for this replica set is orange.

A really nice one, Chris ! These pictures certainly make it look like it's hard at work and it definitely is capable of a variety of tasks.
