Mine showed up in March but I'm just getting around to posting. Beautiful model, much more accurate than my circa 1978 Abingdon Classics-built Motorkits. This is the early M-Type, with a fabric covered body, very effectively painted in a flat red shade. Normally I opt for B.R.G. but red was very popular for this car originally. This is the predecessor of the MG Midget and allowed Cecil Kimber's MG operation to take off. One of these should be in every historic sports car collection.
I have a Motorkits one. I agree about this one Harv.
A cute little guy! I agree regarding the historic importance of this one in an MG collection.
Wow - pretty cool little gem! IMO, that fabric body is convincing; it doesn't look just like flat red paint. 👍 👍
This is a new one on me. I've always liked the early MGs, but I missed this one, somehow. Thanks for the history and pics, Mister Goranson.
@gdh It was released this year - several vendors may still have them.
Available in Europe ............. I like it but I cannot justify spending well over $200 to get one on my shelf.
@mg-harv They are available, but 95% of them are in the UK and that adds a sizeable amount to the price. I still find it odd that in this day and age I can order something from China at a much better price than I can from an island just 800kms away, and by a sizeable margin.
It is not an immediate need, so I will put it on the back burner, for now.
@gdh Don't forget the SA. I got this one-off color trial from Steve Overy of Illlustra at Countryside in 2012. Sadly a year or two later he was gone.
@mg-harv A great model. RE the SA/WA question. The one I posted is listed as a WA and I can see where there may be a question, as the two models, with the VA, are very similar. Here is a 1938 SA:
1939 MG WA:
One distinction between the two is the WA is a larger automobile though this is difficult to demonstrate in photographs.
