That Tail of The Dragon sounds fantastic. I drove the Blue Ridge parkway a few times returning from Petite Le Mans near Atlanta but not in the Miata. I have done some wonderful roads in Vermont and Utah, Colorado with it. I have owned a variety of British sports cars. Earliest were Singer, MGTD, MGA and more recently MGB and finally a 1971 Spitfire Mk IV which was a surprise Christmas present from my wife in 1988. That one I kept until I bought the second Miata for my wife. A friend currently has it. Yes, British cars were fun to drive but all took a lot of upkeep. What a pleasure to move to the Miata.
We have about a 20 mile stretch of US RT 211 between Sperryville and New Market that can be almost as much fun as the Tail. There are tons of S-curves, switchbacks, and even two very challenging off-camber hairpins along the way. You have to be familiar with them as the rear end can get light if you brake too hard. You can find yourself going the other way in the blink of an eye. The 911 guys love it!

Below is the Spitfire.
BEAUTIFUL Spitfire David!! I'm not too far from the Blueridge Parkway but live a quarter mile from the Hwy 129 where the 'Dragon' starts here in Tennessee.
Many casualties on that road for motorcyclists that run it. Until recently, our Miata Club, Corvette Club, Ferrari, BMW, Porsche and now, we are in the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, run the 'Dragon'.
That really sounds like a lot of fun. Club activities really help. The Spitfire was used quite often in Toronto Triumph club events; gymkhanas and daily drives in Ontario mainly. Highlight was timed racing at Shannonville Racetrack in Eastern Ontario. Same thing for the Miata with the Trillium Club. We have several yearly activities for British cars. The allow me to join as a guest with the Miata because of historic origins.
Very cool David. We used to have an all-English Sports Car Show nearby annually. Covid called a halt to it and I sure lament that. Hopefully it will be back, and you're so correct, club activities make a nice difference in our car hobbies!
