Minichamps.....
Anyone else here still get the Minichamps updates via email? I do but, in all honesty I have seen nothing of any interest to me in well over a year. I've had my fill of Porsche models! And not interested in race cars or larger scales. What about the new Maxichamps line? Is this a separate news letter?
Mostly ditto
I have to mostly agree, Peter - a definite lack of much interesting from Minichamps in the past year, apart from (for me) the 3 long-awaited diecast Ford Escort Mk.2 (Europe) 1/18 models that were released late last year, after a VERY long gestation period.
I believe the newsletter of Week 34 had the first of the Maxichamps models in it (unless I missed some earlier ones) - there were two each of Mercedes 230SL (Pagoda), Opel Kadett C Coupe, VW Golf Mk.1 GTi and (yes) Porsche 924 GT models. They are the ones with product numbers starting with 940xxxxx. These are retailing in Germany at around 30 Euros, compared to around 55 Euros for the "standard" 1/43 scale diecast releases.
Compared to the past those "standard" diecasts are being produced in small production runs, with around 250-300 units seeming to be the norm nowadays. The heydays of runs of around 3000 units per release appear to be long gone!
Is Minichamps still doing promotional models for current model Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche and others?

Minichamps does some, as does Schuco, Norev and a few others.
Looks like they lost most of this business. MB has a mix of Kyosho/Norev/Schuco, for example
