In addition to celebrating this day, we should take some time to thank the men and women of our armed forces who protect our freedom.  The following picture shows some models to remind us of the WW2 years.

The two airplanes are 1/48 scale diecast models from Carousel1.  The one on the left is a P-40 with markings from the Flying Tigers.  It represents the plane flown by Gregory Boyington, who became famous later in the war commanding VMF 214 also known as the Black Sheep Squadron.  The one on the right is a P-36 with markings of plane flown by Phillip Rasmussen on December 7 at Pearl Harbor.  The Jeep is a 1/50 scale model by Corgi.  The Jeep may be the most famous vehicle from that time.

Awesome message, scene, models and backdrop - and neat to see some planes to ‘mix it up’ a bit on this forum!

@tedweller

Interesting you mentioned the backdrop. It is from a photo I took at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Ford Island at Pearl Harbor. The building, a former hanger, is part of the museum and has many 1:1 scale restored aircraft in diorama settings. Both the hangar and control tower, partly shown at left, survived the attack. If you are in Hawaii, I highly recommend visiting the museum.
