My favorite Tucker movie collectible
I was driving back from the Carlisle swap meet, back in the day, when the Tucker movie came out on videocasette. I don't remember who told me about this movie store in Ephrata, PA., but I stopped to see what new movies they had for sale. Ephrata was just a few miles off the Turnpike. There it was, just inside the door, the big store display for "Tucker, the Man and His Dream. I bugged the owner to sell it to me when he was done using it for advertising the movie. I went back on my next Carlisle trip, and he was a man of his word. He kept it in back for me and I bought it. It stands a good 6' high,and is in perfect shape. It goes perfectly with my other Tucker collectibles, and 11 Tucker models, which I also hope to photograph and post.

I guess every Tucker item I have is a favorite. Wish I had the car.

Great Tucker item, Ray!
I acquired one in a similar way when a video store finished using it. That one went to a friend and I hope it still survives. They are large and take up space, sometimes making life difficult on a cardboard standup. I'm glad to see yours is still pristine. Thanks for sharing pics.

Can't top Curtis or Ray by any means. But I related to a co-worker....
...that my 2018 Subaru Outback has a feature that steers one of the headlights left on a lefthand curve and vice versa on a right hand curve. He immediately said "Oh, so they're Tuckerized". Preston's third light lives on.

Maybe you can help me identify this wood base (PIC).
I bought it on ebay a few years ago with a gold Tucker which was in bad shape and which I later repainted.

Citroen for years had three headlights per side and the center one turned with the steering wheel.
Back in the thirties, a popular after market accessory for high priced cars, such as Packard, Cadillac, etc, were pilot rays which also turned with the steering wheel.

And Mazda offers "adaptive headlights" on its upscale trim levels of several models. My Mazda3 hatchback of a few years ago had the feature, which aims the headlights around corners about 15 degrees or so, if I remember correctly. They still offer them. Once I got used to it, I couldn't believe how effective they were.

Speaking of Tucker memorabilia
My late friend (and mentor in this hobby) Bill Harrison, had a 1:8th (?) scale model of a Tucker that was a styling prototype for Tucker back in the day. No idea how or when he got it but the movie folks managed to pry it away from him for a period to use in the movie. When Bill died, circa 2003, all his massive collection of toys and models, some 30,000 including this Tucker I believe was auctioned off by Bonhams & Butterfield in lots over a year's period. I managed to win some Durham Classics at one San Francisco auction. Often wonder what happened to that Tucker model.
